Minutes from 10/13/08 RUMBA meeting are here.

When does RUMBA meet?

Meeting are held on the second Monday of each month. See the calendar section for the specific dates and time. All band parents are welcome to attend.

What does RUMBA do?

We provide support for the band students by helping meet their needs and supporting the program. This includes chaperoning bus trips, transporting and serving water for a thirsty marching band, helping to move equipment, maintaining and distributing uniforms, cheering on our Ranger Band at football games and competitions, providing refreshments during band camp, as well as helping to raise money.

How is the $50.00 TUSD fine arts fee used?

The TUSD fine arts fee is used for competition fees, bussing expenses, student awards. TUSD also provides the band director, uniforms, custodial services, some instruments.

Why does RUMBA need money?

Many needs are not met by TUSD. To offer our kids a great experience and to make the band program run smoothly, RUMBA raises money to pay for things that are needed. For example, when the TUSD equipment truck breaks down, RUMBA steps in to rent one so our band can perform as scheduled. RUMBA helps defray the costs of music licensing, drum major training camp, instructional staff to assist with the marching band program. RUMBA has also helped raise funds to purchase equipment, such as lighting and microphone systems.

So how can I help?

Be involved

The band students enjoy having their parents in the audience cheering them on. Being involved in RUMBA is one way you can share a fun high school experience with your student while supporting the band program.

Tax Credit

Please consider the RHS/UHS Band Program for your Arizona State School Tax Credit. If you haven't made a school tax credit donation yet this year, now is the time.
